When I was a girl. I lived on a very large tobacco farm in Southern Maryland, on the tidewater of the Chesapeake Bay. I explored all 380 plus acres of it on my bike and upon my very own shetland pony named Brenda. One of my favorite things to do when I was a girl was to braid wild flowers in her mane.  I also had a black kitty with green eyes named bubbles.

My days were filled with wild roaming. My evenings were filled with firefly gathering, and my nights were filled with some of the most vivid and creative dreams one could imagine.

Oh, and I had two jobs…

Well, I was more of an entrepreneur actually. I was an entrepreneur pretty much from day one. As a young girl I would often spend a portion of the day playing flower shop in a hidden garden of the abandoned old house that was falling down next to ours.

Though the house was worn to the bones, missing all of its windows and was rotten to its roots, its garden still came forward each spring. Among the tall grass surrounding the house there were beautiful passion flowers, several roses bushes that were two stories high (seriously.) Trumpet vines, honeysuckle hedges, daffodils, cherry and pear trees and so much more.

There was also many red bricks which I used to build my floral workbench!  I would cut the flowers and arrange them...I would also create watercolor paintings of my arrangements!

Often when I would get fed up with my paintings because they did not appear real enough. I would simply paste a real flower over my painted one, but you can keep that between us!  I would try to sell them to whoever would come to the house and to people who lived around our farm. I only sold my work for a penny or a quarter but I was on my way!

Here I am 40 years later, and I am still painting. and arranging. flowers!

My great grandfather started a florist over 75 years and 4 generations ago. That florist was one of the biggest inspirations of my life and the reason I work in a florist today I am sure. I have a passion for flowers. Well….it is more a floral obsession.

I have spent over 20 years specializing in creating custom bridal designs. I adore brides. I have created thousands of wedding looks over the past 20 years and I have loved each and every one of them. Each unique, each perfect and each just as special as the first.

As you can see, I am still painting flowers. My great grandfather also was a painter, and so too was my mother. I suppose the apple truly does not fall far from the tree. I hit the ground in love with flowers and today I still am just like the generations before me. (How funny is that right?!) I can not tell you how many hours of my life have been dedicated to the study of flowers in one form or another, but I can tell you I spend an average of 4 hours painting them each day!

So, when you choose me to help capture your bridal bouquet in a permanent watercolor portrait, you are getting 40 years of floral study. You would have to look long and hard to find a flower I  have not studied, worked with or painted. My knowledge and experience with flowers spans the globe.

Because I have spent two decades committed to brides, I am well versed on the ins and outs of your bouquet, I am comfortable working with your once in a lifetime piece and I can comfortably and confidently work with you to produce the most amazing work of art. Your painting will not only grace your wall...it will be here for generations! Pretty cool huh?!

I love, love. I adore brides and I have a complete floral obsession and I can not wait to spend time creating a perfect piece just for you!
